About us
The biggest concern for the seafarer is coping with isolation and access to connectivity is an important aspect in choosing an employer. For the ship owners, crew welfare is crew retention.
Seafarers want access to communication services of high quality, that is easy to use, affordable, private and accessible 24 hours. Ship owners want cost control and recovery, usage limitations, access restrictions and online security.
SMSGlobal addresses all these needs.
Since its inception in February 2003, SMSGlobal has produced products and delivered services that bridge the distance - between the seafarer and his loved ones, between the ship owners wants and the seafarers' needs.
SMSGlobal provides end-to-end solutions covering both crew communications and business operations in the maritime and enterprise satellite communications markets.
History
SMSGlobal first made its mark in February 2003 when it introduced into the market SMSCrewMail, the first Satcom- and airtime-neutral email and 2-way SMS text messaging service for seafarers. SMSCrewMail was also the first portable crew email service which followed the seafarer to whichever vessel he boarded.
In September 2009, SMSGlobal introduced CrewCommCenter, with SMSCrewMail at its core but with added functionalities like optimized & secured web browsing, low-data chat messaging with Facebook, Yahoo, Google and AIM, World News delivered 7 days a week in multilingual editions, and Announcement Boards for fleet- or ship-wide announcements.
In January 2014, SMSGlobal launched Se@MeNow, a social networking portal dedicated to seafarers and their loved ones where they can chat online - with video or voice - send and receive emails, share photos, play games, view their favorite sports events or shop online with worldwide delivery.
In December 2015, SMSGlobal released CrewCommWiFi, where crew can use their own personal devices and preferred applications to communicate with their friends and loved ones, all while providing for the ship owners control over data usage, cost efficiency and online access security through remotely-configurable firewalls, access control and filters. CrewCommWiFi also enables ship owners to whitelist the vessel's business applications for unhampered business operations.
In 2022 SMSGlobal became the official representative office and distribution Partner for Pivotel in the Philippines. Pivotel is a Tier 1 Iridium and Inmarsat Distribution Partner (DP) agreements for services covering Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network BGAN and GX Network operations and services with telehousing.
