Internet cafe access on board only trough specified applications and controlled gateways
When crews are bringing their own devices to the vessels they often have bittorrent clients for movies/music/software downloads installed, Skype, MSN, Yahoo, Google messenger clients, and a range of other data and bandwidth consuming applications and services. Most of these applications are running automatically in the background on the devices, updating them self automatically, and consumes loads of internet data without the user actually browsing or interacting on the internet at all. A 100 MB to 200 MB crew data allowance package per month can easily be used up by the crew devices only by allowing these applications to have access to the internet.
